coffee grounds, rinsing it out. Still, it's convenient and quick for one quick cup of coffee. Also. They are quick and easy (why we wanted the Senseo in the first place), and give the great creme (sp) topping, which the Presto MyPod does not.
My son works at a coffee shop so he gets great deals on coffee. much easier to just plop in a ready-made pod. it is messier. Thus we decided this would be a great option to use with our Senseo machine.
I had read that in the reviews before ordering and didn't think it would be a big thing to me, but it is. We find ourselves not using the MyPod often. And, it does work, but taste pretty much matches drip coffee. However, although the cost savings is much better than ordering pods, we find ourselves using the pods much more.
Bottom line its ok for the money. I got the Presto 09402 MyPod Refillable Replacement Pod (Senseo) it does works but it doesnt make the coffee like the senseo pods do. Its ok for the money but I'll be willing to pay more if the coffee will come out like it does when you used the senseo pod.
Water would pour out the side of the machine and it would not brew anymore. Not only did this not work but it wrecked the machine. After using this one time the machine never worked right again.
It's about the same trouble as using a standard espresso machine. Couple of points: 1) Make sure and use as fine a grind as you can without slowing the Senseo water flow down to a drip - I use the espresso setting on a Breville Conical Burr grinder with no problem. 4) You WILL have to manually control the 2 cup and OFF button on the Senseo to turn it on and off, since the amount of coffee produced is totally dependent on the grind setting, the amount of coffee, and the tamping. 3) For a good strong full cup of coffee fill the filter to the top rim and then tamp it down - I use a 1/3 cup measuring cup as a tamper which works fine - then press down the plastic cover.
This coffee filter, combined with the Senseo, can produce a truly outstanding and consistent cup of coffee on a regular basis. And the Senseo is beautifully designed to be easy to clean. That's it. I have used this filter for over a year (more than 300 cups of coffee) and found it first rate, especially if you like a strong, full flavored cup of your own coffee brand.
4) Prime the Senseo by running it for about half a cup of water before inserting the filter and then reheat - ensures the water is at full temp. The Presto filter is also designed like a tank, and will last for a very long time. I used to be an espresso drinker but prefer a large cup in the morning and this does it. 2) Use a good burr grinder - it makes a BIG difference - spending the extra money will be worth it.
It is super easy to fill and use, perfectly sturdy, cleans up quickly and makes a great cup of coffee. I use it several times daily and have not had a single problem with it. There is nothing I would change about it and would buy it again with no reservations. After reading all the reviews and seeing the problems some had using the MyPod, I thought twice about getting it. My hubby talked me into it and I am SOOOO happy that he did.
